The Global Vehicle Damage Codes are published jointly by AIAG, The Automotive Industry Action Group based in North America and ECG, the Association of European Vehicle Logistics based in Brussels.
The two organisations agreed to establish a standard set of codes for use in damage claim reporting for dealers, manufacturers, vehicle logistics providers and vehicle inspection companies in 2008.
These codes have been approved by a significant number of manufacturers in both North America and Europe, and should be considered the definitive standard.
